The GoodFellas Bike Club started in late spring of 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in the DC, MD, VA (DMV) region. As millions of people across the country learned how to live sheltered lives during the pandemic, a smaller minority grappled with how to stay active and healthy while safe during the lockdown. The founding members of Goodfellas were part of this minority and started meeting at various trails around the DMV to bike during the weekends. The group began to love the sport and invited other “Goodfellas” to join the rides and they began collectively learning about the sport of cycling and falling in love with it.
Hybrid bikes were upgraded to road bikes, mobility apps were upgraded to bike computers, and leisurely rides were upgraded to road races. It became clear, early, that this group of riders was all about elevating in the sport and the friendly competition that comes with it.
By midway through the summer, the Goodfellas were regularly meeting for rides with over 30 riders and had established a staple ride, affectionately known as the “Bowie 20” which became the talk of the DMV bike club in town. The Goodfellas decided to formalize their bike club into an entity in the spring of 2021 and GoodFellas Bike Club is now much more than a club; it is also a fellowship.
Through networking, professional development, exercise, health and wellness events, and other forms of support, Goodfellas is committed to creating a culture of fun, healthy, and competitive fellowship though LIVING, LAUGHING, and RIDING with their community.
We welcome you to join our movement!
